The Xc 42 will follow the same conceptual ideas as the Xc 45.
The idea is to offer a cruising yacht with more focus on long distance “bluewater” cruising. The same build and design qualities found on the performance range will also be found here, but more attention has been paid to the needs of the cruising sailor.
The specification and conception mirrors X-Yachts determination to make high quality oriented yachts. The needs of a cruising family are the foremost prerequisites, but the designers have worked hard not to compromise on performance. A fine balance has been created.
EXTERIOR
Safety and comfort first
The design intention is to create safety combined with function, yet sustaining timeless aesthetics.
With deeper hull sections than those of a normal “performance cruiser”, there is added volume for large tanks, which also gives the Xc 42 a smoother motion in all weathers.
At the bow, an optional stainless steel A-frame with attachment points, for both an eye for the asymmetric spinnaker, and a bow ladder.
A classic ”thought through” deck layout
The styling of both hull and deck of the new Xc 42 are in the same line as the Xc 45. A Classic styling, incorporating the use of the best and most proven build techniques.
By using approved suppliers of the most respected equipment, above and below decks, the Xc 42 delivers excellence.
Teak laid decks are standard on the side decks, coachroof, in the cockpit, and on the bathing platform.
Newly developed recessed flush deck hatches.
Stainless steel self tailing sheet and halyard winches.
A safe and reassuring teak bulwark.
Deck integrated track for the self tacking working jib.
Customize your cockpit
The Xc 42 comes standard with normal spray hood on a stainless steel framework.
Optional fixed windscreen with a spray hood fitted onto the top alloy frame is available, as shown here.
Optional cockpit tent and bemini are also available.
Optional life-raft can be stowed away in one of the large cockpit seat lockers; alternatively, a “ready to launch” canister can be added to one of the aft pushpits.
The transom port opens electrically and forms a perfect swim platform whilst folded down, with an integrated swim ladder.
Interior choices
The Bulkheads are white melamine with recessed 5 mm teak battens to give a panel impression. As an option, teak surfaced bulkheads are available except in wet areas.
Latex mattresses rest on laminated wooden battens for improved comfort and ventilation in all cabins.
All joinery is first class, using carefully selected teak.
High quality interior equipment is used throughout; such as Oceanair blinds, and Corian table tops in the galley and bathrooms.
Aft Cabins
3-cabin version - standard
The Xc 42 comes standard in a 3-cabin version. The symmetrical aft cabins have wardrobes, shelves and cabinets.
The engine is the newly developed Yanmar 4JH4 - AE, 4 cyl 54 HP freshwater cooled, with integrated KMG 65E power generator. This removes the need for a dedicated generator compartment, and creates a larger aft cabin volume and wider double berths.
2-cabin version with work station
A 2-cabin version is available where the starboard aft cabin has been replaced by a “work station” and a deep cockpit locker.
The work station provides ample space for tools and spare parts, a work tabletop, and improved access to the engine compartment.
Saloon
As standard, the main cabin has a dedicated Nav station with ample space for modern and conventional navigational and communication equipment, fitted underneath with drawers.
Alternatively, an en suite shower compartment, with access from the starboard head, replaces the dedicated Nav station. The starboard sofa is replaced by two facing armchairs, separated by a Nav table. There is ample space for the switchboard, and for navigational and communication equipment, by the aftmost of these two armchairs.
Forepeak
The V shaped birth with bridge piece utilizes the space well. The head has a separate shower compartment, and there is space for a washing machine.
