VIKING YACHTS 68' Enclosed Bridge Convertible 2009

Viking has been building enclosed bridge convertibles for over 11 years, delivering the first model, a 58 EB in the summer of 1995. From the initial launch, the design has grown more and more popular with cruising yachtsmen who wanted Viking’s well-documented performance with a climate-controlled helm. In essence, a Viking Enclosed Bridge Convertible is a fast, long range motoryacht with the speed, handling and sea keeping ability of an offshore proven tournament sportfisherman with great looks to match.

As the design has evolved over the years, Viking now offers enclosed bridges on the 74, 68, 64 and 56 Convertibles. And although the size of the enclosed bridge varies depending upon the model, each one shares a commonality of luxury and convenience features.

To maximize visibility, the helm is moved forward on centerline and each of three tinted windshield sections is fitted with a wiper and washer. The dash is wrapped in black ultra-leather to reduce glare and serves as the ideal location for electronic displays and the flush-mounted compass. Overhead, a bank of accessory switches controls various systems. Single lever controls supplied by the engine manufacturer and a vertical destroyer-type wheel with power assisted hydraulic steering deliver instant and effortless response. Beneath the dash there is considerable stowage for loose gear and other accessories. An adjustable Stidd helm chair provides plenty of comfort for long range excursions and on most models is flanked with upholstered companion seats, each with a sturdy footrest.

Abaft the helm is essentially a second salon with similar amenities found below. A plush J-shaped lounge with stowage underneath on a raised platform allows guests panoramic views through the forward, side and aft windows, which totally eliminates any sense of confinement. A cocktail table adds a nice, convenient touch. Opposite the lounge, the hand-finished teak cabinetry houses a refrigerator with space available for bottle stowage and a sink. For entertainment, a flat-screen television, stereo and CD player are standard.

The enclosed bridge is fully air conditioned and in reverse cycle mode, the system can supply heat for those chilly days at the beginning and end of the season. In fact, it is this feature of the enclosed bridge that many owners appreciate because it allows them to extend their boating season and enjoy more time on the water. On those in-between days, you can open the overhead hatch and the weatherproof exterior door to invite plenty of fresh air aboard.

Another useful benefit of the design is it provides for an interior staircase from the salon so that during inclement weather, there is no need to travel outside to reach the flybridge. (One exception is the 56 Enclosed Bridge, which presently is not offered with a spiral staircase.)

For docking ease, each enclosed bridge model is equipped with an outside aft docking station. The controls and wheel fit neatly into a fiberglass helm pod with room to add some electronics if desired. Opposite the outside helm, there is a molded fiberglass seat topped with a plump cushion for comfort and plenty of stowage below.

On enclosed bridge models, all of the flybridge railings, including the bridge ladders are powder-coated to blend in nicely with the surroundings. Even the quartz lights, which illuminate the cockpit, are ensconced in fiberglass pods for a totally finished look.

Viking also offers an option called the skybridge. This feature is a cozy open flybridge that sits atop the enclosed bridge roof. If it is extra height you are looking for aboard your next new Viking, it’s safe to safe the sky is the limit with this accessory.

Viking’s Enclosed Bridge Convertible line-up is one more example of our commitment to build a better boat everyday. They are the consummate cruising yacht, yet are fully capable of fishing alongside our Open Bridge boats. We invite you to contact your dealer to learn more about this exciting and unique fleet.

VIKING YACHT 82M

Viking’s new motor yacht project continues to make headway and evolve with input from owners, dealers and our in-house design and engineering teams contributing to the original plans prepared by Michael Peters Yacht Design of Sarasota, Florida. Two feet have been added to the running surface since the initial drawings to incorporate a straight-drive system and an extended transom platform will now accommodate a personal watercraft.

This new tri-deck yacht is a significant departure from motor yachts built by Viking in the past with its spectacular enclosed sky bridge married to a sleek modern sheer. Soft but angular window lines lend a sensation of speed while immersing the interior with natural lighting. Generously proportioned hull-side windows do the same for the master stateroom. Wide side decks provide ample freedom to move about the yacht when tending lines or working the ground tackle, yet the on deck acreage does not compromise the interior space thanks to the nearly 22-foot beam.

The main deck plan poses an open environment with no shortage of opportunities for enjoying the yachting lifestyle. The aft deck, for example, provides a comfortable U-shaped lounge and table, a perfect combination for early morning continental breakfasts or dining by candlelight beneath a moon-lit sky. Port and starboard steps lead to the transom platform, for ease in boarding a launch or enjoying watersports, as well as engineroom and crew quarter access. A third set of steps heads to the flying bridge.

Inside the salon, a plush U-shaped lounge to port beckons with comfort. But before settling down, refresh yourself at the intimate bar area to starboard. Then enjoy the home theatre entertainment system conveniently viewed from the lounge. An intimate dining room with built-in cabinetry for silver, glass and dinnerware separates the galley from the salon, a perfect choice for formal entertaining or family gatherings. The country kitchen style galley combines the space of a family room with world class appliances, sure to become one of the most popular meeting areas on board the yacht. Counter space is L-shaped to maximize utility and convenience, while a food-prep island includes substantial stowage room and space for four bar stools. A large U-shaped dinette serves up an inviting informal dining area.

The galley also can be entered from port and starboard doors leading to the side decks. These doors provide plenty of fresh air cross ventilation and are most useful for stocking the galley when the yacht is secured to a side-to dock or finger pier. A day head is convenient to the starboard door.

A spiral staircase leads below to the four staterooms, including a full-beam master suite, which includes a lounge, a dressing area, a walk-in hanging closet and a head with bathtub and shower. Each of the other three staterooms is generously proportioned and features a private head and stall shower.

The sky bridge, reached from inside the salon and the aft deck features a centerline helm, flanked by L-shaped companion seating. Abaft the helm is a wet bar and refrigerator opposite the portside lounge and cocktail table. The aft bridge deck is equipped with electronic controls to ease docking maneuvers and provides sufficient room to stow a dinghy, or can be used as an additional outdoor dining and relaxing area.

A complete custom installed navigation package will be provided by Viking’s sister company, Atlantic Marine Electronics. Standard power is a pair of MTU Series 2000 16V diesels.

VIKING YACHT 52S

The Viking 52 Open, which premiered to rave reviews at the 2006 Viking Yacht Dealer meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey, has a brace of stable mates launching in the months ahead.

The 52 Sport Yacht, blends excitement and style along with lush accommodations for four in two spacious staterooms, each with a private head and shower, plus an in-line galley to starboard. But with our mantra to “build a better boat everyday,” engrained in everything we do, it should come as no surprise that when we designed this new yacht we took it to the next level by developing a model within a model.

Viking’s unique philosophy is clearly seen in the 52 Sport Yacht as two distinct platforms. The enclosed version offers the comfort and luxury of a climate-controlled salon, complete with air conditioning, a raised L-shaped settee, entertainment system, twin pedestal helm seats and beautifully hand-finished teak joinery.
The companion to the enclosed Sport Yacht features a day boat layout with an open back bulkhead and three pedestal helm seats. This arrangement makes an ideal fishing machine when outfitted with a Palm Beach Towers (Viking’s sister company) tuna tower. Both designs incorporate Viking’s innovative mezzanine deck in the cockpit for added flexibility whether cruising or fishing. Both yachts run on the same hull as our popular 52 Convertible with the same power choices (MAN, MTU, CAT) assuring superb sea-keeping characteristics and performance.

VIKING YACHT 45O

Like all Vikings, the 45 Open has been bred to deliver stellar performance in the harsh environment regularly experienced by tournament anglers. Visibility from the centerline helm is outstanding making the 45 Open as easy to maneuver offshore as in a crowded marina. High-speed stainless-steel rudders matched to power-assisted hydraulic steering provides fingertip control. Navigation electronics stow neatly behind clear acrylic panels, which makes the gear totally accessible, yet safely protected from weather and spray. A separate compartment accommodates communication equipment.

The bridge deck features three helm seats and an L-shaped lounge to port with rod stowage below. To starboard, a molded fiberglass console houses a refrigerator and icemaker, stowage locker and jump seat.

Lessons learned from countless tournaments have produced an impressive cockpit with all of the amenities a casual or serious angler would need to gain a spotlight in the winner’s circle. The 119 square-foot cockpit features a molded nonslip sole with an insulated fishwell flanked by a pair of deep stowage compartments, one of which can be made into a livewell. The molded console against the aft bulkhead contains a bait freezer, a rigging station, ample tackle stowage and provides engineroom access. The step leading to the bridge deck conceals an insulated drink box. Rounding out the comprehensive list of standard equipment is a transom door, fresh and saltwater washdowns, a stowage locker, recessed stainless-steel cleats and hawse pipes, four flush rodholders, stereo speakers, indirect lighting, oval exhaust ports and a Glendinning Cablemaster shore power cord.

A sliding acrylic door leads to the salon, which features a U-shaped lounge to port and a U-shaped galley to starboard. The 45 Open is available with a single or two staterooms. Though Viking’s smallest boat, she wears her namesake proudly, as she is engineered like her larger siblings. Powder coated web frame steel engine beds, for example, are hung on dedicated composite bulkheads to minimize vibration and assure drive train alignment. Her raked entry, molded chines, 15-degree transom deadrise and fairbody running surface allows the 45 Open to plane quickly and efficiently. A solid reinforced keel enhances tracking in a seaway and provides major league protection in the event of a grounding.

VIKING YACHT 52O

Sleek, fast and powerful, the new Viking 52 Open raises the bar for express yachts bringing to fruition exciting groundbreaking design that merges with innovative sea going technology.

Utilizing Viking’s popular 52 Convertible hull form, the 52 Open takes its superb running surface and tournament proven cockpit and melds these enviable attributes with a stunning new topside layout and elegant interior. In addition, by designing a spectacular observation mezzanine in the 145 square foot cockpit, Viking has created an entirely new class of cruising and sportfishing yacht that will appeal to both experienced yachtsmen and hard-core blue-water tournament fishermen.

The two-stateroom, two-head layout showcases Viking’s relentless attention to detail. The master stateroom is forward and features a queen-size walk-around berth, a maple-lined hanging locker, a 15-inch flat screen television, air conditioning, plenty of stowage and an en-suite private head with fiberglass stall shower.

The portside guest stateroom provides upper and lower berths and access to the other head.

In the salon, fishing rods stow securely beneath the L-shaped lounge. A home theatre system with a Sharp Aquos flat screen television, DVD/VCR and FM stereo with surround sound sets the mood. The starboard galley is fully equipped with an Amtico vinyl floor, a Corian countertop, electric cooktop, microwave/convection oven, under-counter refrigeration, in-sink garbage disposal and numerous stowage compartments for utensils, cookware and supplies.

Topside, the bridge deck has three Murray Products pedestal seats providing excellent visibility and comfort. Power assisted hydraulic steering and electronic engine controls are standard and a Moritz safety monitoring system confirms correct system operations. Electronics stow out of the weather but always in full view behind clear acrylic panels and a recessed radio box houses additional communication equipment.

The observation mezzanine in the cockpit features a port aft facing lounge with stowage below, a large bait freezer, tackle drawers and engineroom access. There is gaff and tag stick stowage, dockside water connections and raw-water washdown outlets forward of the gunwales. An insulated chill box is built into the bridge deck step.

The self-bailing cockpit features a molded non-slip fiberglass sole, walk-through transom door, flush rod holders, rounded coaming and a recessed, insulated fishbox with pump out.

VIKING YACHT 74EB
