Built by Vaudrey Miller for no-compromise sportfishing and detailed to superyacht standards, the high-performance Hahn 47 Sportfisher was derived from the highest value data, materials, services and equipment sourced from around the globe.
Florida-based naval architect Walter Hahn designed the soft riding hull and composite engineering firm, High Modulus, engineered the laminate. The Hahn 47’s robust, lightweight epoxy structure was built from leading edge materials – carbon fibre, tri-axial E glass and tough linear foam cores – to ensure high performance and the ability to run hard in any conditions.
Powered by twin 660hp Caterpillar diesels the Hahn 47 Sportfisher achieves better than 35 knots when fully loaded with fuel (865 US gals), water (125 US gals), equipment and stores. Continuous full-load cruising speed is 32 knots.
When away from the marina, an owner’s stateroom with semi-ensuite, comprehensively equipped saloon, generous galley and comfortable express bridge, all exquisitely crafted and serviced to luxurious standards, provide total comfort. A 12kW Northern Lights generator powers the microwave, two-element cook top, Gaggenau barbeque, refrigeration, air-conditioning and flat screen TVs.
The engine room is well laid out with all the service points close at hand, and long-term engine overhauls have been planned for. All the flybridge elements can be removed intact and engine-sized ‘soft patches’ in the sole lifted to expose the engines underneath.
It goes without saying the cockpit is well set up and all styles of sportfishing are catered for. The coamings are the correct height, toe-kicks allow good balance when working hard against the sides and every feature an angler values is provided within the clean, uncluttered layout.
Vaudrey Miller is a specialist builder and although the Hahn 47 was hand crafted to demanding specifications, competitive labour rates and an advantageous exchange rate ensures it is cost-effective to custom build in New Zealand.
