HATTERAS MOTOR YACHT 72

The new 72 Motor Yacht from Hatteras Yachts features traditional exterior lines with subtle contemporary styling cues for an overall effect that fits into today's marketplace while easily standing the test of time. This unique model features a wider salon than comparable motor yachts on the market, yet it still retains side-deck access that makes the 72 Motor Yacht perfect for the owner/operator. Down below, the 72 boasts a full-beam master stateroom with a his-and-hers head option, along with two luxurious guest rooms - a third one available as an option. A clever aft compartment can be equipped as either a crew area or as a VIP guest room, creating a truly unique vessel in its size range.

Built in Hatteras' main facility in New Bern, N.C., the 72 Motor Yacht features a resin-infused hull, rather than one built up of layers of hand-laid fiberglass. The automated resin-infusion process produces a more uniform hull thickness from one hull to the next, as well as the most ideal glass-to-resin ratio. This one-two punch produces a boat that weighs significantly less because of the lowered resin content, while providing a more precise fit of bulkheads, stringers and other components for increased strength and durability.

The solid-fiberglass hull bottom includes beefy support for key areas such as the tunnels, shaft log and strut locations. Divinycell coring is infused into the hull sides, decks and superstructure to add stiffness and reduce weight. Wherever possible in the vessel's interior, lightweight components and materials are used to increase performance without sacrificing the structural integrity and soft ride that have been the hallmarks of Hatteras Yachts for more than 45 years. Because of this continued dedication to quality, the Hatteras 72 Motor Yacht will retain the five-year hull warranty that protects all Hatteras Yachts.

Owners can access the open flybridge from either the aft deck or the galley. The 174-square-foot deck features a centerline helm station and two adjustable helm chairs from Pompanette. For those who want additional forward-facing seating, a third chair will fit nicely. Standard at the helm is an electronics suite, including Northstar 6000i GPS/plotter, Icom VHF, Simrad AP25 autopilot, and Simrad IS15 depth and temperature indicator.

Molded fiberglass seating allows for easy conversation and plenty of storage underneath. A key bar with three stools, refrigerator and ice-maker provide a comfortable entertainment area for owner and guests, and an optional electric grill is available in the aft starboard cabinet.

The standard open bridge features an arch for mounting antennas and radar. Owners can elect to add curtains and air conditioning along with a fully integrated hard top.

Those who enjoy spending time outdoors will love the Hatteras 72 Motor Yacht's exterior spaces. A large aft deck with molded seats and wood table provides plenty of room to relax or enjoy a casual meal, as well as access to both the sport deck and flybridge above.

To port and starboard, 12-inch-wide side decks lead forward, making the yacht easily handled by an owner/operator. Cleats are recessed into the bulwark for a clean exterior profile. Forward, a large sunpad that converts into a seat is molded into the main deck. Thanks to a windlass that's recessed into a well that drains overboard, the forward deck will stay clean throughout the day.

The 72 Motor Yacht's 20'2" beam provides for a 284-square-foot showroom finished to the high standards that Hatteras Yachts owners have come to expect, with a variety of interior wood selections in either high-gloss or satin finish.

In the salon, a large settee offers storage and seating, along with a comfortable view of the 42-inch plasma TV, which is perfectly angled toward the sofa. Adjacent to this angled cabinetry is an area designed to house an optional sunken bar with a sink and refrigerator. Cleverly concealed behind this area is discreet access to the engine room and aft stateroom below. Forward on the main deck, you'll find china and glass storage and a large buffet to starboard. A formal dining table to port seats six comfortably.

One step up to the galley, a full walk-in pantry to starboard provides ample storage for supplies. Part of this space can be modified to incorporate an optional day head on the main level. The galley itself features granite countertops, a 42-inch upright refrigerator/freezer, four-burner cook-top and microwave convection oven. Deep storage drawers in the galley island and overhead cabinets provide an abundance of storage. For privacy, an optional pocket door at the aft end of the galley can be closed to seal off the galley area from the dining room and salon.

Forward of the galley, you will find a large, country kitchen-style dinette with stone countertop for casual dining. For easy access to and from the boat, the Hatteras 72 Motor Yacht provides port and starboard access doors on either side of the galley. An optional helm with a single pedestal chair is available for those that require a lower helm station.

LOWER DECK
Below deck, the 72 Motor Yacht is configured with three staterooms and three private heads, providing for ample room for family and guests. Those who prefer additional sleeping accommodations can choose an optional fourth stateroom with over/under berths.

A wide staircase leads to the staterooms below and offers access to a large storage locker for supplemental supplies. Concealed under the staircase is a side-by-side washer and dryer, accessible from the lower companionway.

Moving aft, the owner will enjoy a full-beam master stateroom featuring a king-sized berth, cedar-lined, walk-in hanging locker, dressers and nightstands to port and starboard, and an entertainment center featuring a 27-inch LCD TV. A sitting area forward provides room to relax, while six oversized port lights allow ambient light to fill the compartment. Various options allow the owner to fit the master suite with an office or additional hanging lockers. The master head features stone flooring and countertops with dual sinks. An optional his-and-hers head with centerline shower and/or tub is also available.

The bow stateroom, similar to other Hatteras models, features a walk-around queen berth that hinges to gain access to the cedar-lined storage below. An optional 20-inch LCD TV is available for entertainment. Storage is abundant with a cedar-lined hanging locker and hull side cabinets to port and starboard.

The athwartship guest stateroom to port also features a walk-around queen berth that hinges to gain access to the cedar-lined storage below. Nightstands on either side provide storage, as does a full-size cedar-lined hanging locker. An optional port light for ambient light is available.

Situated to starboard, the optional fourth stateroom offers over/under berths with closet and nightstand, in lieu of the lounge area in the master suite.

OPTIONAL AFT CREW OR VIP STATEROOM
Owners can access the engine room through a discreet staircase in the salon, or through a watertight door on the sport deck. Either access point leads to a utility room that can be equipped with either an optional crew's quarters or VIP stateroom.

With the crew quarters option, the owner gets a utility room and "wet" head with shower, queen bunk, closet, nightstand and TV. The VIP stateroom option offers an athwartship queen with private head and separate shower, and access stairs from the salon that lead directly into to the engine room so the crew can access working components without disturbing guests.

With the wide variety of bunk options and layout choices, the 72 Motor Yacht offers some of the most flexible sleeping arrangements of any vessel in the Hatteras fleet.
