This is a new exciting Baltic for the new millennium. The Baltic 78 was built for the same owner as the Baltic 67, but this time he wanted something even sharper than the B67.
The concept, layouts, styling, material and equipment selection etc. are the result of over one years work in close cooperation with the owner. The result is an extremely modern, high-tech and high performance yacht with a canting keel, but also with the best of comfort for cruising.
The canting keel can in some conditions give you 3.5 knots extra speed compared with a conventional keel. This technology was only proven in racing yachts and to add to the challenge the owner wanted to live on board and didn't want the keel to effect the interior. The mechanics had to be fitted under the floorboards, which gave us 50cm of space in which to create the pivot mechanism for the keel. If you went below you wouldn't even know it was there. (See photo of salon and canting keel mechanism below.)
The interior Pre-Preg laminates are covered on visible surfaces with a thin layer of teak, vacuum glued to the laminates giving a very nice and high quality interior but with just a fraction of weight in comparison to a "traditional" interior. (See photo below.)
This exciting yacht was launched in the year 2000 and has lived up to her performance predictions whilst sailing in the Mediterranean.
