OCEAN YACHT 58 Super Sport

The 58 Super Sport stands at the intersection of the latest trends in naval architecture and engineering, some of which have been pioneered in Ocean’s recent models. She has a sheltered cockpit mezzanine, for example, introduced on our 73 Super Sport and, later, adapted for our 54 Super Sport. It oversees the sportfishing drama, or cockpit “play.” Up on the impressive flybridge, a center-console helm creates a fluid space, which also characterizes the main-cabin layout, where salon, galley, and dinette areas are integrated.

The 58 SS rides dry and smooth in roughest sea conditions on Ocean’s refinement of the planing hull – acknowledged by many to be the most seaworthy hullform in production yachting. Unique pocketed propeller tunnels, designed for use with an ordinary trim-tab system, admit the yacht to shallow passages. The yacht is easily captained by her owners. At times, however, even the most dedicated skipper may wish to turn over the wheel to a captain; the 58 SS’s third stateroom and head accommodates two crew members in comfort.

Offshore travelers enjoy comforts and amenities seldom encountered on comparable boats – in part because of Ocean’s insistence on offering more standard equipment than any competitive manufacturer. The elegant teak-accented salon is graced with rich furnishings and deluxe entertainment equipment. The new U-shaped galley has everything needed to appease salt air-sharpened appetites. The separate dinette is expansive and convenient within the 58 SS’s fluid main-deck plan.

Few yachts this size have been so perfectly engineered for sportfishing. Or extended offshore living. The 58 Super Sport represents, in the sum of her innovations, the new Ocean. She demonstrates the company’s commitment to produce sportfising boats that will leave boaters breathless with admiration and competitors breathlessly trying to catch up.

Open Flybridge
The bridge with its island helm is shaded by a custom-style hardtop with molded-in spreader lights and three-sided enclosure. Teak ladderback helmsman’s and companion’s chairs, large molded-in insulated coolers, Glendinning electronic controls with Palm Beach style handles and power steering are all standard. Popular options include an aft enclosure, three-sided EZ2CY enclosure, air-conditioning with reverse-cycle heat, recessed overhead radio or teaser reel compartments and a cooler with refrigeration or freezer units..

Enclosed Flybridge
An optional enclosed flybridge offers the plush amenities consistent with the level of luxury of the 58 SS, including features such as a built-in LCD TV, L-shaped settee, a helmsman’s chair and companion seating.

Cockpit
The large cockpit has a transom-mounted livewell, rod holders, fresh and seawater washdowns, and two insulated fishboxes to store an angler’s quarry when boated through the hinged transom gate and transom door. Lazarette access is here, through two hatches offering direct access to the bilge pumps, steering system, and rudder board. Optional Rupp outriggers, center rigger, fighting chair, and refrigerated undersole fishbox can be ordered from the factory.

Mezzanine
The cockpit mezzanine includes a bait-prep center with freezer, sink and fresh-water spigot; tackle drawers; gaff storage locker; and convenient engine-room access. An Eskimo icemaker, teak cover-boards, coaming, and decking are options.

Engine Room
Readily accessed by a door in the cockpit, the spacious engine room accommodates a wide range of engine packages. Standard power is provided by twin MAN V10 1100 CRM Diesels: other available power options include Twin MAN V12 1360 CRM Diesels, Twin MAN V12 1550 CRM Diesels and Twin CAT C32 1675 MHP Diesels
