A while back one of our large boat owners initialized a discussion regarding the possibility and interest from our side to build a custom made High Performance Daysailer for him.
Judel/Vrolijk had already at that time made some preliminary design and concept proposals. Looking at the preliminary design and listening to the planned philosophy behind the project we could do nothing but become very enthusiastic and accept the challenge.
The main concept was to create a high performance light daysailer with equipment and layouts that enables easy single handed daysailing. Just to mention a few of the characteristics and equipment that was included:
- Swept back spreaders.
- Bow thruster
- Retractable bow sprit
- Self tacking jib
- Hydraulic/Electric pushbutton functions for:
- Main sheet
- Jib sheet
- Reefing
- Headstay
- ETC.
The interior volume is small and is not intended to offer any "living space" but just enough for some protection. There is a small galley and refrigerator plus a small head forward.
The main emphasizes was to create a layout where most of the time is spent on deck enjoying sailing or just enjoying a pleasant time in a large comfortable cockpit.
