MORRIS YACHT 34

The Morris 34 is in every respect a sailor's sailboat. To help show the diversity of the Morris fleet, we sent Morris 34, ANDIAMO, to the 1998 Annapolis Boat Show and berthed her alongside our largest, fastest, most custom effort ever, Morris 48, REINDEER, the ultimate blend of offshore speed and pure luxury. Commentary around the docks was that Morris Yachts had stolen the show, outdoing the erstwhile leaders in the yacht building world. These two boats so outshone the assemblage that we felt both were destined to be finalists for Cruising World magazine's coveted Boat of the Year Award.

To our delight, ANDIAMO won not only best in type (mid-size cruising sail), but also the ultimate prize -- Best Overall Boat of the Year for 1998! (Click on News) Although there have been many winners in various categories in the ten year history of the Boat of the Year Awards, the holy grail of this contest is Best Overall Boat. Only Morris Yachts and one other American builder have twice won Overall Boat of the Year. It is not hard to make a case that the 34 is the best cruising sailboat in the world today under 35 feet. Most seasoned sailors can tell that at a glance.

Through the use of "rib-core" engineering, tapered lamination, and exceptional craftsmanship in the accommodations and outfitting, the overall weight of our 34 remains in the moderate category. Combine this with a balanced rig and modern sailcloth, and you have a cruising boat that, despite all its luxurious appointments, flies upwind and down.

The 34 is a Morris, and you can have yours as you like it. The cockpit is set up for either tiller or wheel steering, and interiors can be customized. In its original configuration or any other vision you might have for a Morris 34 of your own, no matter what you've owned before, this "Boat of the Year" is a sure candidate for the boat of your life.Principal Dimensions:
